课前准备

Doors to Blessings

Children complete a verse from the Beatitudes with what's behind one of three doors.

DURATION:

Approximately 15 minutes

PREPARATION:

Before class, cut out from poster board several large doors. If possible, doors should be at least 14" x 22". On the backside of each door, paste one of the three pictures. You can decorate the front of the door as you like to look like doors, but it is important that they all look exactly alike. Next, prepare index cards in advance as shown below. Make enough index cards for each child. For example if you have nine children, you will want three cards with verse 1, three with verse 2 and three with verse 3.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Ask three volunteers to be door turners. They will keep the picture sides of the doors hidden to the rest of the children. Give the other children one index card, and have them form a line. In turn, they will pick one door to try to complete their verse. For example, if they have verse number 1, they need to pick the door that has a picture of a kingdom on the back. If they do, they win and can get their treat. Winners can also exchange places with a door turner. If they guess wrong, they go back to the end of the line. Then, with help from the teacher, the doors are shuffled for the next player to guess his or her correct door.

WHAT YOU WILL SAY:

Each card you're holding has a verse with a missing word. Choose one of the three doors. When the door opens, if you see what you need to complete your verse, you win and get a treat. If not, please go back to the back of the line. If you are unsure what word you need, look up Matthew 5:1-6 in your Bible.
