让孩子们把椅子排成一个大圆圈，坐下。请孩子们与右边的孩子配对。如果人数不等，可以让你自己或一个助手与单数的孩子配对。

读完约翰福音13章1-17节后，解释给孩子们听，他们将想象耶稣在为他们洗脚。让每个人脱掉一只鞋子(可选)。接着，让配对的孩子1假装为孩子2洗脚并擦干。然后，让孩子2为孩子1做同样的事情。

Imagine How Humble

Children learn about humility by imagining Jesus doing something very special.

DURATION:

Approximately 10 minutes

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Have the children move their chairs into a large circle and sit down. Ask the kids to pair with the child to his or her right. If there is an uneven number, pair yourself or a helper up with the odd numbered child.

After reading John 13: 1-17, explain that the children will imagine that Jesus is washing their feet. Have everyone remove one shoe (optional). Start by having the children that are number 1 pretend to wash and dry the feet of the child to their right. Next, have children that are number 2 do the same for the child to their right.

WHAT YOU WILL SAY:

I want you to close your eyes and pretend that your dirty, stinky, nasty feet are actually being washed by Jesus. Jesus asks, "Do you understand what I have done for you? Don't open your eyes, just think about it for a while. (Let those who had their feet washed now do the washing, and repeat this first part. Then all sit down.)

Let's continue to use our imagination. Everyone, close your eyes again. Jesus has just washed your feet. Now I want you to imagine Jesus playing with little kids. Can you see it? That's what he wants YOU to do also!

Now imagine Him feeding hungry people: 5,000 men, besides all the women and children that ate, with only 5 loaves of bread and two fish. Can you see that in your mind. He wants YOU to help those who are needy!

Now imagine Him talking with His Father. He wants YOU to have that kind of relationship with Him!

Now imagine Him telling people about his Father's love. Can you hear his loving words? He wants YOU to do the same by telling your friends and people you meet about God's love! Open your eyes.

Discussion Questions:

1. Jesus wants us to follow his example! So what are some other ways we can serve those around us? (Possible answers:Help someone who's been hurt. Help your mom or dad clean the house. Doing something that needs to be done when no one else wants to do it. Help someone do something when they don't have enough time.)

2. In John 13: 14,15 Jesus says, "Now that I your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you." Did Jesus sound proud, or that he was better than his disciples? (No)

3.When we serve like Jesus, what kind of an attitude do we have? What kind of attitude did Jesus have? (Like Jesus, we should not act proud, but be humble)

4. Let's pretend you just won an important race. It wouldn't be very humble to tell someone, Ha ha, I'm better than you because I won. What would a humble person who just won a race say? Remember that a humble person wants to glorify God, not himself. (Allow for answers)
