HISTORY MYSTERY - YOUNG JOSEPH

Children put the Biblical events about Joseph and his angry, jealous brothers in chronological order.(All 16 events are found in Genesis 37:3-36; 39:1-6).

PREPARATION

Before class, print or make copies of the activity sheet for each child. If using this activity by itself, you may also want to read the story from the Bible to the children before handing out the activity sheets. You will find all of the events listed in Genesis 37:3-36 and Genesis 39:1-6.  

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Have the students work individually or in teams to put the events listed on the activity sheet in chronological order, based on when they occurred in the Bible. Let the kids know that it is okay to use their Bibles to find the correct order of events. If working in teams, have everyone give the winning team a round of applause for completing the activity first. If working as individuals, suggest that children who finish early help those who are still working put the events in the correct order until everyone is finished.

Hint: If the children are having a difficult time completing the activity in the allotted time, you may want to provide some hints. For example, you could let them know which events are numbers 1, 5, 10, and 16.
