RESCUED
If we don't care about those who are lost, who will?
(Skit for three persons: Park Ranger, Mr. Evans and Cheryl.)
TOPICS: Believing, Evangelism, Lost, Missions, Salvation
MATERIALS: Skit handout [PDF] Click here
DURATION: Approximately 10 minutes
Park Ranger:Good news Mr. Evans, the search and rescue team has found your daughter!
Mr. Evans:Praise God! Is she alright?
Park Ranger:Yes, she is a bit shaken up, but other than that she is quite healthy. The rescue helicopter should be arriving at the ranger station any minute now.
Cheryl:(Runs up to her father crying) Dad, I was so scared! It was the worst three days of my life! Last night I think I saw a wolf! I was so happy to see the search and rescue team this morning!
Mr. Evans:(Hugs daughter) Cheryl, we were so worried about you! (Wipes away tears) Thank you Jesus for hearing our prayers and for guiding the search and rescue team to Cheryl. Amen.
Cheryl:I hated being alone in the mountains for so long, but it did give me a lot of time to think.
Mr. Evans:What did you think about honey?
Cheryl:First, I thought about what you taught me about staying in one area if I ever got lost. Then I started thinking about all the others who are lost.
Mr. Evans:I'm glad you remembered that survival tip, but Cheryl you were the only one from the group who was lost. Are you sure you are feeling okay?
Cheryl:(Smiling) I'm fine dad! I was scared and all alone, but it got me thinking about others that are spiritually lost!
Mr. Evans:What do you mean spiritually lost?
Cheryl:People all around us are on the wrong life path, so to speak, and spiritually lost. These people are scared, lonely and desperately hoping that God will send out a rescue team to help them find their way home to Him. Some people are wandering around and don't even know they are lost.
Mr. Evans:Where do you expect to find these spiritual lost people?
Cheryl:We can find spiritually lost people everywhere: school, work, next door, sometimes even in church. Missionaries go to the ends of the world searching for people who are spiritually lost.
Mr. Evans:You have been doing a lot of thinking.
Cheryl:Dad, I could have died if the search and rescue team didn't find me in time. It is the same thing with those who are lost spiritually.
Mr. Evans:What do you mean honey?
Cheryl:As Christians we need to be part of God's search and rescue team. We need to help others find the only path to eternal life by sharing what Jesus did for all of us when He died on the cross.
Mr. Evans:If we don't care about those who are lost, who will?
Cheryl:Maybe the wolves will daddy, maybe the wolves...
Mr. Evans:I never thought of it that way before. We must all do our part to help those who are lost. Lives depend on it!
Cheryl:(Pointing at the audience) I am part of God's search and rescue team. Are you?
