Moved by Your Actions

Children advance to the finish only by imitating the actions of familiar characters.

DURATION:

Approximately 15 minutes

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

This game works best when played in a large area, and is similar to "Mother May I." The children will stand on one side of the room, and you on the other side with your back turned to them. The children are given one of five characters to imitate. They can only advance, or stay put, by imitating the character given to them correctly. If they are incorrect, then they go back to the starting line. Have another helper or one of the children be a lookout to catch mistakes. You will call out the name of one child, and then give them one of the five characters to imitate. Then call another child and give them one of the five characters to imitate. Repeat this process until every child is given more than one character to imitate to give them a chance to move forward. Continue with several rounds or until you have a winner.

WHAT YOU WILL SAY:

In this game you have to pay close attention to what I say in order to get to the other side. There are 5 types of people I will choose from. Each one will determine if you move forward or backward, and how many steps. I will call out a name, and a character, and then you must do the actions for that character. If you mess up, you go back to the starting point. Here are the different characters.

*Characters*	*Actions*
College Student	Hold your hands out, as if you are holding a laptop in one hand while typing with the other. Stand still-no steps forward or backward.
Maid	Pretend to clean everything in sight, especially other kids. The only way to move forward is to clean a kid in front of you. You can continue moving forward by cleaning kids, until I say stop.
Bookworm	Put your hands in front of your face, as though reading a book. You will take two steps forward
Football Player	You will jog in place, then take four steps forward, hugging the ball to your chest as though you are about to be tackled.
Basketball Player	You will turn around, take two steps toward the starting line, turn around again and shoot.

Application and Discussion:

This was just a fun game, but it does show us that people are known by their actions. The Bible says that we must be doers of the Word, not just hearers. (James 1:22) How can our actions show who we are in Christ?
