BIBLE VERSE (5 minutes) "He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted." Job 5:9 NIV Explain to the children that although we cannot understand how God performs miracles, we should always be thankful that He interacts with us in miraculous ways.
BIBLE STORY (15 minutes) Gather the children around you in preparation for story time. After the introduction, read the story about the great catch directly from the Bible. If possible, use a Children's Bible so it will be easier for the kids to understand. Introduction: In today's lesson, we will learn that some fishermen had been fishing all night, but couldn't catch any fish. However, catching fish became easy once the fishermen trusted and obeyed Jesus. Let's open our Bible and read about this amazing miracle. Read Luke 5:1-11 (The Great Catch) Discussion Questions: 1. How many boats were there? (Two boats.) 2. Who told the fishermen to try again but in deeper water? (Jesus.) 3. Do you think the fishermen wanted to try again after they had just fished and caught nothing? (No. They had worked hard all night and hadn't caught any fish.) 4. What happened when Simon and the other fishermen followed Jesus instructions? (They caught more fish than the boats could hold.) 5. How did the fishermen catch so many fish? (Because they listened to Jesus’ instructions.) 6. Why do you think Simon fell down at the feet of Jesus? (Simon realized that a miracle just took place and that he needed Jesus in his life.) 7. Jesus calls us to be fishers of men, what does that mean? (We are to tell others about Jesus.) 8. Is it important for us to listen to Jesus' instructions? (Yes.)

PRAYER/SNACK (10 minutes) Further info? Click here Start by thanking God for all the miracles and wonders that He performs. Provide the children with small cups or bowls, along with goldfish crackers for a snack. Have the children fill their cups or bowls with crackers, just as the fishermen filled their boats with fish. As the children enjoy the snack, ask them to share ways in which God has completed miracles in their lives.
CLOSING ACTIVITY (5-10 minutes) As children wait to be picked up, discuss various ways in which we can be fishers of people for Jesus. Some ideas include: • Invite our friends to church or Sunday school • Ask your friends to attend Vacation Bible School or a church picnic. • Give a friend or a family member a Bible • Tell someone why you love Jesus • Teach your friends a song that worships God
