AS KIDS ARRIVE (10 minutes)
Have paper and crayons ready for when the children arrive. Have them draw a picture of God. After the children have completed their drawings ask how many of them drew pictures of God the Father. How many of them drew pictures of Jesus. Explain that both pictures are correct because God the Father and Jesus are both God.

BIBLE VERSE (5 minutes)
"I and the Father are one." John 10:30 NIV
Have the children repeat this short verse several times as a class. Explain to the children that Jesus is referring to Himself in this passage. Although separate, Jesus and God the Father are one in the same and that they will learn more about this in today's lesson. Finish by asking volunteers to recite the verse from memory.
BIBLE STORY (15 minutes)
Gather the children around you in preparation for story time. After the introduction, read the message from Jesus right from the Bible. If possible, use a Children's Bible so it will be easier for the kids to understand.Introduction:Today, we are going to read a story about how Jesus explained who He was to the Jewish people. The Jews had to choose whether or not to believe what Jesus was saying. Let’s read it together and discuss what you believe.
Read John 10:22-42
Discussion Questions:
1. To whom was Jesus speaking? (Jewish people in the temple.)
2. Who did Jesus claim to be? (Jesus claimed to be God.)
3. Did the Jews, gathered around Jesus, believe that He was God? (No, they thought He was just a man.)
4. Why didn't these Jews believe Jesus was God? (They were not His sheep.)5. Who do you think Jesus is? (Allow children to respond.)

Before snack, pray and thank God for sending Jesus into the world to save us from our sins. Provide Oreo cookies as the snack. Explain that the Oreo has three parts. The top cookie, cream in the middle, and the bottom cookie; however, we still call the whole cookie an Oreo Cookie. Three parts, God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit, make up one God. This is what we call the Trinity. Jesus is a part of God so we can call Him God, just as we call God the Father and the Holy Spirit, God.
