这节经文提醒孩子们,愿意的心是活出尊荣神的生命的关键。要在所行的一切事上尊荣神,我们必须尊重并顺服祂。有时这并不容易。我们可能不想做正确的事,因为它不好玩、太难或太耗时。圣经也教导我们,孩子应当尊荣父母。我们可以通过尊荣父母来学习如何尊荣神。


在课程中多次重复这节经文,让孩子们更容易记住。


故事(15分钟)

请孩子们围坐在一起,聆听故事。在介绍之后,可以读儿童版的故事大卫如何尊荣神,或直接从圣经中阅读相应章节。


介绍:

大卫知道自己有一天会成为以色列的王,但在那之前,扫罗仍然是王。然而,扫罗非常嫉妒大卫,因为神帮助大卫取得了一次次的胜利。他不仅杀了巨人歌利亚,还在许多战役中大获全胜,而扫罗的表现则差得多。因此,扫罗心生嫉妒,甚至想杀死大卫。今天的故事讲述了扫罗如何带兵追杀大卫,但大卫却选择尊荣神的经历。

讨论问题:

  1. 扫罗带了多少人去找大卫?(3,000人)

  2. 当扫罗进入洞穴时,大卫和他的部下在哪里?(洞穴深处)

  3. 扫罗知道大卫也在洞里吗?(不知道)

  4. 大卫本可以杀死扫罗,他做了什么?(割下了扫罗外袍的一角)

  5. 当大卫从洞里出来时,他向扫罗喊了什么?(“我主,我王!”)

  6. 大卫拿扫罗的衣角做了什么?(向扫罗展示)

  7. 在这个故事中,大卫如何尊荣神?(他尊重扫罗,因为扫罗是神所膏立的以色列第一位王)

LESSON 4: Honoring God

David spares Saul's life to show us that even in difficult situations, we should honor God and do what pleases Him.

BIBLE VERSE (7 minutes)

"If we live, we live to honor the Lord" Romans 14:8a NIRV


This verse reminds children that it takes a willing heart to live a life that honors God. To honor God in all we do means we must respect and obey Him. Sometimes it is not easy. We may not want to do what we know is right because it isn't fun, or it's too hard, or it takes too long. The Bible also says that children are to honor their parents. We can learn how to honor God by honoring our parents.Repeat this verse several times and periodically throughout the lesson.              


BIBLE STORY (15 minutes)

Gather the children around you for story time. After the introduction, read the Children's version of the story about how David honors God. As an option, you can read the story directly from the Bible.


Introduction:

David knew one day he would be king of Israel, but before that happened, Saul was king. Now King Saul was very jealous because David was so successful in defeating the enemies of Israel. Remember how he killed the giant Goliath? After that, he defeated many armies, while King Saul didn't do so well. So, Saul became very jealous. So jealous, he wanted to kill David. Our story today is about one of those times Saul goes out to find David, so he can kill him.

Discussion Questions: 

1. How many men did Saul take with him to look for David? (3,000)

2. Where were David and his men when Saul entered the cave? (far in the back of the cave)

3. Did Saul know David was also in the cave? (no)

4. David could have easily killed Saul, what did he do instead? (cut of a corner of his robe)

5. When David came out from the cave, what did he call out to Saul? (My lord the king!)

6. What did David do with the piece of Saul's robe? (He showed it to Saul)

7. How did David honor God in this story? (He honored God by showing his loyalty to Saul, because Saul was chosen by God to be the first king of Israel.)  

8. How can we honor God, even when we are in a difficult situation? (Allow for discussion.)

Have a snack of fruit roll ups. Start by thanking God for such great tasting treats. As the children are tearing into their treats, talk about how they can honor God with the different people in their life: parents, brothers, sisters, friends, older people they meet in church, and so on. Take this time also to repeat the memory verse, "If we live, we live to honor the Lord." Romans 14:8a NIRV.
