Explain to the kids that God hears our prayers and answers our prayers in many different ways. Sometimes He says, "Yes," sometimes He says, "No," and sometimes He says, "Wait.
BIBLE STORY (15 minutes)
Gather the children around you for story time. After the introduction, read the Children's version of the story. As an option, you can read the story about the birth of Samuel directly from the Bible.
Introduction:
Our story today is about the power of sincere prayer and the birth of a baby boy who was dedicated to the service of the Lord before he was even born.

1. What was the name of Elkanah's wife, who had no children? (Hannah.)
2. Did Hannah want to have children? (Yes, she really wanted to have children.)
3. What was Hannah doing outside of the temple? (Praying to God.)
4. Hannah made a promise to God, what did she promise? (Hannah promised that she would give her son back to God, if God would allow her to have a baby boy.)
5. What was the name of the priest who saw Hannah praying and blessed her? (Eli.)
6. What did Hannah name her baby boy? (Samuel.)
7. Why is it important to be sincere and pray from our heart? (Allow for discussion.)
