EVIDENCE OF THE INVISIBLE

An activity to help children understand the invisible world around them.

TOPICS:

DURATION:

Approximately 10 minutes

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Have the children stand an arm's length apart from each other facing you. On your signal, the children will jump as high as they can.

WHAT YOU WILL SAY:

Today, we are going to learn a little about the invisible world around us. There are things around us that we cannot see, yet we have evidence that they exist. For example, we cannot see the wind, yet we know it is there because we can see it moving the leaves on the trees or feel it blowing across our faces on breezy days.

We are going to demonstrate another example of the invisible world around us with a fun activity. I want you all to line up facing me. Now stand an arm's length apart from the child next to you. When I say jump, I want all of you to jump as high as you can. Ready? Set. Jump!

What happened when we jumped? Did any of us float off into space? No, of course not. That is because of gravity. God created just the right amount of gravity to keep us from floating off into space, but not so much gravity that we are stuck to the ground, unable to move. Gravity is invisible yet we just proved it exists.

When Jesus was on the earth, He told the people that when they saw Him, they also saw God. (John 14:9) The people couldn't see God, but they did see Jesus. John 10:30 tells us that Jesus and God the Father are one.
