HEAD TO HEART TAG
A fun variation of tag that will remind kids that the head and the heart must stay connected in our faith. by Lauren Shelnutt TOPICS: Just for Fun, Knowledge MATERIALS: Masking Tape DURATION: Approximately 10 minutes
PREPARATION: If you have a large classroom, use the masking tape to section off a portion of the classroom to be “in bounds” so that game is contained and the “Heart and the Head” can continue to reach all classmates.
WHAT YOU WILL DO: Pick a person to start off as the “Head” and another child to be the “Heart.” These two will join hands.
WHAT YOU WILL SAY: We are going to play HEAD TO HEART TAG. This is a version of tag where two people the “Head” and the “Heart” together are “it.” But, they must keep their hands joined at all times. It is there job to “connect” with all of you by tagging you. If you are tagged you must join hands with the person that tagged you. Everyone else will try to stay free as long as they can but as the space is limited and as the “Head and Heart” grow it becomes easier to tag everyone. If you step out of bounds at any point you are automatically part of the “it” group. The last individual caught wins. After the game. That was a lot of fun! I want you to remember that in this game it was crucial for the head and the heart to stay together for the game to work. In life, we must remember that following Jesus means we need to use our heads to learn and study the Bible but we also should let the things we learn touch our heart and change the way that we feel and act.
