课前准备

课前打印皇冠和十字架的模板。一张泡沫板可以作两顶皇冠。用钢笔沿泡沫板的长度方向画出两个皇冠。在泡沫板的顶部空白区域，测量并画出宽1½英寸的条带。剪下两个条带和两个皇冠（参见说明）。然后，用订书机将皇冠的一侧与条带的一侧订在一起。使用十字架模板，从不同颜色的泡沫板中剪出十字架。每个孩子需要一顶展开的皇冠和一个十字架。

Crown Your King

Children create a crown they would like to give God as a symbol of being their King.by Kristy Thornton

PREPARATION:

Before class, print the crown and cross templates. One foam pad will make 2 crowns. With a pen, trace 2 crowns, length wise, onto the foam pad. Use the extra room above to measure out 1 ½ inches for the band. Cut out 2 bands and 2 crowns (see visual instructions). Then, staple one side of the crown to one side of the band. Use the cross template to cut out crosses from a different color Fun foam. Each child needs one flattened crown and one cross.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Have the children decorate their crowns by gluing on their cross and different kinds of jewels. If you have brad jewels, you may need to help the children poke the brads through and flatten the brads down.

As each child finishes his or her crown, write that child’s name on the inside of the band. Size the crown around the child's head. Then, use a stapler to connect the end of the band to the other side of the crown and cut off the excess.

WHAT YOU WILL SAY:

Why do you think kings and queens wear crowns? (Allow for answers.)

Kings and queens wear crowns to show that they can be trusted to rule, protect, and care for the people living in the land. God deeply desires to be trusted as King over our lives. He wants us to choose Him as our King.

If you had to make God’s crown, what would it look like? (Allow for answers.)

Today, we are going to decorate a crown for God. When we are finished, if you would like to make God your King, place the crown on your head. This will let everyone know God is your King. Then, when you get home, find a special spot in your room to put the crown so it will remind you to think about God. Think about how He wants to be your King. He wants to be trusted to protect you and care for you. He doesn’t want to compete with anyone or anything else for the position of King in your life.

*Items can be purchased at most Arts & Craft stores. You can substitute sturdy construction paper for Fun Foam.
