课前准备

制作爱心袋：在课前，为每个孩子制作一个爱心袋。将红色手工纸对折，或者使用两块5.5英寸见方的 Fun foam®，利用模板剪出两个相同的心形。将两个心形的边缘黏合起来，但留出顶部的三分之一，以便可以从顶部插入纸条而不会掉出来。
打孔和装饰：胶水干透后，用打孔器在每个爱心袋的边缘打孔。然后，用深色马克笔在正面写上“你的内心有什么？”（可参考下面的示例）。

What's in Your Heart?

Children fill their hearts with words to describe how they will treat others when they put Jesus first in their own lives.

PREPARATION:

Before class, make one heart pocket for each child. Fold a piece of red construction paper in two, or use two 5 and 1/2 inch squares of fun foam, and use the template to cut out two identical hearts for each pocket. Glue the edges of the hearts together about two thirds of the way up, so that you can still insert slips of paper from the top and not fall out.

After the glue dries, use a hole-punch to make holes all around the edges of each heart pocket. Then, with a dark marker, write the words, “WHAT IS IN YOUR HEART?” on the front. (See example above.)

Print out enough copies of the Word Sheets so each child will have one set of all five words describing how we will treat others when we put Jesus first in our lives. Finally, cut strips of string or yarn, about 36 inches in length, one for each child.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Let the children cut out the five words from their Word Sheets, and insert the strips into their heart pocket. Then the children can decorate their hearts with markers or crayons. Finally, help them lace the hearts closed using string or yarn, starting from the top, and leaving at least 10 inches of length at the beginning and the end. Tie the ends together, so they can wear their heart pockets like a necklace.

WHAT YOU WILL SAY:

As the children are cutting out the words, explain the importance of putting Jesus first in our lives. We need to put Jesus first in the way we speak to others, in how we act with our friends or parents, and how we think about whatever is going on at the time. If we want to show others that God is in our lives, we must live our lives knowing that God loves us and he wants others to see Him living in us. The words that we will be putting in the heart show what we are like when God is in our heart. The Bible says, "Clothe yourselves with Compassion, Kindness, Humility, Gentleness, and Patience." Colossians 3:12b. These are all ways that we can show God to others. When we act, speak, and think in these ways, it will be easier for others to want to be with us and it will be easier for them to see that God really does live in us.
