孩子们到达时，给他们活动中的第一组图片（用我们的言语将耶稣放在首位）。孩子们将在每节课开始时着色不同的图片，并决定每张图片属于布告栏上的哪个部分。
如果不用布告栏，孩子们仍可以涂色，并将图片张贴在墙上。每对图片都将帮助孩子们了解什么是将耶稣放在首位，什么不是。此外，还有预先上好色的图片可供选择。

这节经文提醒孩子们，我们的嘴可以说好听的话，赞美神，但同时也会说伤人的话。我们需要学会总说善良的话。
故事(15分钟)
让孩子们围坐在你身边，准备进入故事时间。在介绍之后，读雅各书 3:9-10，然后讲述故事《小舌头要小心》，再进入讨论问题的环节。
介绍：
我们说的话非常重要。言语可以伤害人，也可以让人感觉很好。
举手，如果你喜欢别人说你的好话，现在举手，如果你喜欢别人说你的坏话。同一张嘴可以做两种事。听听圣经在雅各书中是怎么说的：
读 雅各书 3:9-10
我们用舌头颂赞那为主为父的，又用舌头咒诅那照着神样式受造人。颂赞和咒诅从同一个口里出来，我的弟兄们，这是不应当的。
讨论问题：
我们身体的哪个部位可以用来伤害人或善待人？（舌头）
特蕾西用舌头说的是好话还是坏话？（坏话）
说坏话会失去朋友吗？（会）
谁希望我们小心使用舌头？（神）
特蕾西在知道她伤害了朋友的感情后学会了什么？（她道歉了，然后开始说好话）
我们在与别人交谈时如何展现耶稣的爱？（鼓励讨论）

LESSON 1: With Our Words
In this lesson, children learn how God wants us to control what comes out of our mouths so we can use our words for good and not hurt others. Our words need to reflect the love of Jesus.By Becky Ray

AS KIDS ARRIVE (10 minutes)
Putting Jesus First (Bulletin Board/Coloring Activity) Click here
As the children arrive, give them the first picture pair found in the bulletin board/coloring activity (Putting Jesus First with our Words). The children will color a different picture pair at the beginning of each lesson of this series and decide where each belongs on the bulletin board.
If you are not using the actual bulletin board idea, the children can still color the pictures, and you can post them on the wall. Each picture pair will help the children see what it looks like when someone is putting Jesus first, and what it looks like when someone is not putting Jesus first. Optional pre-colored pictures are also available.

BIBLE VERSE (5 minutes)
“With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings." James 3:9a NIV
This verse reminds children that with our mouths we can say nice things and praise God but at the same time we use our mouths to speak bad about others, and we use them to hurt and bring people down. We need to find a way to always speak kind words.
BIBLE STORY (15 minutes)
Gather the children around you in preparation for story time. After the introduction, read James 3:9-10. Then, read the story, Be Careful Little Tongue, that follows before going to the discussion questions.
Introduction:What we say is very important. Our words can hurt people, or make them feel good. Raise your hand if you like to hear somebody say something good about you. Okay, now raise you hand if you like to hear somebody say something bad about you. You see, out of the same mouth, we can do both. Listen to what the Bible says in the book of James:
Read James 3:9-10
"With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be." NIV

Discussion Questions:
1. What is an important part of our body that can be used to hurt people or be nice to them? (Tongue.)
2. Was Tracy using nice words or mean words with her tongue? (Mean words.)
3. Can you lose a friend when you say mean things about them? (Yes.)
4. Who wants us to be careful with our tongues? (God.)
5. What did Tracy learn to do after she was told that she hurt her friend’s feelings? (She said sorry and then used nice words.)
6. How can we show the Love of Jesus when we talk with others? (Allow for discussion.)

Start by praying to God and thanking Him for guiding us each day. While enjoying a snack, talk about how we can put Jesus first with our words, by saying good things to others and about others. What are some examples of kind words that we can use when we speak? Brainstorm with the children. For example: nice, pretty, honest, loving, kind, talented, smart, caring, friendly, etc.
